After several postponements due to COVID-19, Shayna & Matthew were thrilled to celebrate the start of a new chapter together. This past summer, they finally wed at the beautiful and historic Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse. The couple made their love official under century-old maple trees, surrounded by family and friends. Following the breaking of the glass, the two made their way down the aisle with radiant smiles on their faces. Their Cyderhouse wedding was worth the wait!
Love in the Blue Zone
Shayna and Matthew first met during their Emergency Medicine residency in Long Island, New York. Their paths crossed only occasionally as both kept busy. Then, one night, they both found themselves working in the Emergency Department’s dreaded “Blue Zone,” and sparks flew. Matthew even helped Shayna put in her first central line!
After becoming close friends, they dated for two years and bonded over a love of exercise. One day, Matthew decided to pop the question by placing an engagement ring inside a box of new CrossFit shoes. Matthew knew how much she loved Disney, so he taped a picture from the movie Frozen to the inside of the box. It said, “Can I say something crazy? Will you marry me?” She said yes!
When asked what a perfect day together would look like, the couple described a leisurely morning together making brunch and spending time with their two dogs Ellie and Kelev.
A Joyful and Traditional Jewish Cyderhouse Wedding
Prior to the ceremony, Shayna and Matthew sat down to sign their Ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage agreement. They enjoyed a lovely, private moment together with only the rabbi and two witnesses in attendance. The wedding then took place on the magnificent grounds of the Thompson Inn under a canopy of trees and sunflowers. Afterward, in the Cyderhouse, the couple danced the night away and even did the Hora. Friends and family lifted them up on chairs while Shayna and Matthew held a handkerchief between them to symbolize their union. They couldn’t contain their smiles! We loved to see Shayna and Matthew so happy, and we know their Cyderhouse wedding will be treasured for years to come.
